Get some paper towell and make it really wet. Lay it over the ute bed and use something to hold it in place - maybe an elastic band? Once it is dry it will retain the shape and you can cut it to size and paint it flat black with a spray can or airbrush.

Frank
I add a little bit of white glue, like Aquadhere and do the Bryce trick.
I have found that the glue stiffens it up a bit and makes it easier to handle.

mix some white glue with water then dunk a folded tissue into it, place over the back of ute and allow to dry, when dry carefully remove and trim excess then paint and attach to model

Bryce has it right and because it's a '57 Customline aus and if it's a stock ute make sure you have to bow in the middle otherwise it will sag down.
