weathering a 350 pay hauler Empty weathering a 350 pay hauler

I need help with weathering a internaional 350 pay hauler that i will be starting soon.what is the best paint to use acrylic or enamel,or both,will be useing some pastels dust,main colour will be yellow.will be putting some surface rust on it as well.any help will be great.thanks.

Check out the Rusting tutorials! And get yourself some. There will be some how to's on washes, pastels etc in the near future! But you are already on the best place to learn to weather, THE INTERNET!! do some google searches for truck and military sites as there's lots around and look at lots of 1:1 truck pictures also. Weathering just takes practice,practice,practice and heaps of research! HTH cheers

Heyya allan.. I personally would use acrylic paints.. use real dirt and sand in your brown paint to make it look authentic.. add baby powder to flatten it.. the more you add, the flatter the paint colour goes.... just slap it on with a brush.; If you want "mud" , you would put a gloss over the dirt..
I use tamiya acrylics for all my mud weathering..

one thing me looking to do with dumper is how does one paint in the back to make it look like bare metal.

Id try Alclad or metal masters metalisers.. They've got some good metal colours, chome, burnt metal, burnt iron. steel.. You can mix these to get the right metal colour you're after

thanks andy will look into them,the photo of the one i found on the web looks like it was painted dark brown then silver painted on top then wiped off showing some brown then has sand glued on the surface,the 350 in the photos that i found has brown washes on the body,i will be doing black washes as mine will be carrying coal in it.

I have been talking to a shop owner that sells war hammer stuff, he has help with ideas on weathering,if i get in trouble can take dumper to him and he will help me,he said i will have to do a lot of dry bushing which i have never done that,me will be spending some time at the shop.will be weathering mine if it carrying coal.
