Scatch built supermod/hot rod
I have built a scratch model of my hero's car from the early sixties who raced at the Brisbane speedway track and was the first of it's type and I had a ball doing this and learnt a lot while building, only the following parts from kits were used, engine, gearbox tail shaft and diff housing, seat steering wheel, front spring and wheels the rest I scratch built. The motor doesn't have much detail yet when I find a way to fit a dizzy I will wire it, the body is made from a mixture of .25,.5 and 1mm styrene, I changed the wheels to suit the car as it ran around 1964 I have achieved a mile stone with this build and there will be more rods from this era to come.

Re: Scatch built supermod/hot rod
Ahhh!
Takes me back to the days of sitting on the mound at the old Toowoomba show grounds speedway, eating Freers caramel corn, drinking Coke and watching these things slide around the track
Great job!

Very nicely done, brings back a few memories to me also, even if I never saw that car race.

Great example of scratch-building. Brings back memories of Tracey's Speedway to me.

Re: Scatch built supermod/hot rod
It's so satisfying to create something with your own hands that doesn't exist in kit form!
