This is built from the 1:24 Monogram kit. It was modified, using parts from another Monogram kit of a racing BMW, into Jim Richard's 1985 ATCC championship winning car. The JPS decals came from an old sports car kit (I don't recall what it was but it may have been a Lotus Europa?). The roll cage is scratch-built and the wheels are from another kit. The gold pin striping was done using very thin metallic drafting tape. The racing numbers are rub-on transfers. This was one hell-of-a-racer in its day.

The good old days!

Yes Frank Gardner was the boss of the JPS team. I saw this car race at Sandown and I agree with you Steve - boy did it sound good.

Looks great !! Do you still have the model ? I'd love to see it in color , I always loved the JPS scheme especially on the 70's Lotus F1 cars .

I'll dig it out of the garage when I have a bit more time and photograph it again. It was an interesting build and I was fortunate to be able to photograph the real car at Sandown for reference. Jim Richards had no problems about that at all.
