Revell Harley Davidson Police Bike

I built this model for a competition that Hearns Hobbies (Melbourne) held back in the mid-seventies. It's a 1:9 scale plastic kit by Revell of a 1969 Harley Davidson police bike. The basic kit was OK but it lacked fine detail, so I paid a lot of attention to the wheel spokes by thinning each one down to half its original thickness and then the wheels were re-plated. I got hold of a Harley workshop manual and began to detail the engine.

It's got extra wiring, springs, scratch-built head stud nuts, scratch-built pedals, separated fins, and many other modifications and enhancements. I came second in that competition. The winner was a Revell Harley Electra Glide built by an old mate of mine, who borrowed the workshop manual from me. Oh well - they were good kits for their day.
