1955 Jaguar D-Type Le Mans

Autoart have done it again - this time it's a 1:12 scale diecast model of the 1955 Le Mans 24 hour endurance race winning Jaguar D-Type. It's a ripper of a model with heaps of detail and beautifully finished. The drivers were Mike Hawthorne and Ivor Bueb. It was the year of the worst ever motor racing accident in history, when a Mercedes 300SLR driven by Pierre LeVegh collided with an Austin Healey nearing the pits, sending the Mercedes into the spectator crowd killing over 80 people (including LeVegh) and injuring over 100 others. The incident led to many safety improvements to tracks and cars in the coming years.

That looks a beautiful D-Type. Must be a monster of a car! Panel gaps look good for a diecast too. Lots of fine detail too. Nice!

thats one cool car,had one in 1/32 scale as a slot car was not fast as it had lead body.lost it over the years,
