Ya Bryce the nail enamel has fine gold flakes in it giving it a metalic look, will give it a coat of clear as it is is semi gloss, got to get some more of the colour.

Looks great , what thinners do you use with the nail polish ? I've always ben scared of using anything other than Tamiya paint on their shells as they are so touchy with other thinners.

With that red the roof has to be either gold flake or white pearl.

here is photo of roof colour its called Dynamo nail enamel by avon,I used auto GP thinners with the nail enamel, its not like other enamels as it drys very fast, with this colour it has silver flake in it,had to opened the airbrush tip wide open and spray about 8 to 9 inches away.had to re-do the body as the enamel dinted,as it soft.

Hmmm , I'm undecided Allan , (but I've seen way too many red and white mini's it's like painting one british racing green and white ) I like the darker red roof but then again the white is a classic match to red . It is a modern twist on a classic colour scheme though with the metallic red nail polish so how about continuing that idea and giving the roof a pearl or some other effect with the white ?

Look's like will be going with just white roof, sanded the first one back to put coat of pearl on it with the airbrush but to my surprise the nail enamel and thinners split,as it was going on the thinners melted the roof plastic,Bugger fuming Shocked Sad Mad agh just's as well had spare roof,so it is going to be tamiya white.

Actually Allan that was only true of the cooper and cooper s range but even then they were still availible with the roof painted the body colour . It's one of those things that because so many were painted white or contrasting colour it became accepted as being the way they were released . Doesn't matter here nor there though really , shame about the thinners seperating from the colour and eating the roof , just as well you have the spare . Looking forward to see how it looks all together with the interior as well . What are your plans with the engine , stock kit build or super detailed or engine swap (several people are fitting the Toyota 4efte engine from a Starlet GT into mini's now , anywhere up to 200 hp at the wheels front wheel drive affraid ) ?
