Western Star Empty Western Star

Post by Mr Mopar Sun 08 Nov 2009, 11:35 am

This is another one I built a few years ago. Italeri "Western Star "Australian" truck, amt Low Deck Trailer and D8 Dozer. I'm happy with the way they turned out but am going to revisit these in the not too distant future. Want to change wheels, add Auslowe mudguards and oversize signage, and change the ramps on the trailer to something more realistic. Would also like to weather the Dozer but that is getting into unknown teritory.

Very nice.
How did you find the build? A mate reckons he had some dramas with a couple of things. He put me off getting stuck into mine until some other stuff is out the way.
I know what you mean about weathering, I can't bring myself to hit a nice shiny model with weathering paints. I like the showroom look, something my 1to1 vehicles I drive will never have.

If I can make a suggestion, she needs a bug screen on the bonnet with a smart a*** name. Every good trucks gotta have one!

Fabulous looking rig - well done. Is the dozer an old AMT kit? I seem to remember they brought one out years ago.

Great looking rig but I don't agree withsarrx on the bug screen/stone guard, I was having a look at my collection of truck posters on the wall of my den yesterday (Sat 31th) and not one of them has a bug/stine guard so maybe all good looking rgis these days don't wear 'em anymore I know my R Model Mack ha one but wot would a mack be without one.

Hi guys, have all the parts I need now for the mods. i will be changing rear wheels, tail light assy and adding plastic mudguards to the truck. I won't be adding a bug screen or stone guard. The trailer will go though a major rebuild to be more representative of your typical low loader.

I won't start this work for a while, I have too many projects on the go now. But I have added decals and mudflaps to the front of the rig which has improved its appearance.
