This is Yat Ming's 1:18 scale 1948 Tucker sedan. It was advertised as "The car of tomorrow - today!" Back then it had many safety features that were many years later incorporated into modern cars, such as disc brakes, pop-out laminated windscreen, padded dashboard, tubeless tyres, built-in rollover bar, side anti-intrusion bars, and independent suspension all round. Its (rear) engine was a modified 5.47-litre flat-six made for helicopters, and was good for 120mph. Tucker was able to build 51 cars and of those, 47 are still running today. It featured a fairly unconventional body style for 1948 including cut-in door tops and a seamless (no gutters) roof. The third (middle) headlamp was supposed to turn with the front wheels but on the finished production models it was fixed. It was nicknamed the "Tucker Torpedo" due to its unorthodox streamlined shape. A very nice diecast model for a reasonable price.

Love it. I think the reason so many have survived is because of the publicity at the time and the car was so well known before it was even finished, talk about free advertising.
Now what mags do you reckon would suit this one Tucker '48 Torpedo Icon_twisted
