66 GTO For Show
Hey guys finally bought myself another project, this is for my mates birthday next month as he always loved his uncles 66 but he sold it,so im hoping it comes out alright. If you have any advice to any steps in the building process in particular painting that would be welcomed.

Re: 66 GTO For Show
This is a good website for '66 GTO reference pics including engine and interior shots.
http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/default.aspx?carID=2345&i=4#menu
I haven't built this particular model but I'm sure someone on this forum has tackled it before and can give you advice about the kit. There are a good number of posts here that show how to paint a model - check out any of Bryce's posts for example.
You can also look at BMC website for tutorials:

Good luck! Keep us up-to-date with progress pics.

Re: 66 GTO For Show
I built that one earlier in the year. It went together no dramas. Everything seemed to fit ok. I haven't built many so i would have noticed if something was a bit challenging. Have fun!

Re: 66 GTO For Show
Nice work - she looks great. You might want to try a flat black wash on those carbs to bring out all the cool detail as well though.

Re: 66 GTO For Show
I built the AMT '65 last year.
This looks like a much better kit already.
Having a vague nagging memory about Pontiac Engine blue actually being 2 different shades I found this website http://fiedlerh.home.att.net/enginecolor.htm
Which shows my memory wasn't playing tricks for once (the metallic is not just a metallic shade of the non-metallic) and also that you used the correct one.
Not that it'd matter if you hadn't.
FWIW Aussie Export Creation Blue enamel is a pretty close match for Pontiac Engine Blue (the non metallic one).

Re: 66 GTO For Show
Cheers Guys for the comments,
Bryce, you are right there, i was looking at it and all that chrome needs to be broken up so i might try something on it to see how it comes out.
Zenrat, thanks for that info, i had to go to acouple of shops to find the colour but i finally got there.
