This one was inspired by Bryce's "Candy Cane" build. Basically box stock amt kit with a change of wheels and some smoothing done.

56 Ford Victoria 676497 56 Ford Victoria 727619 good kit, excellent build, great colours, I like the dash - whats the secret to the gauges. Even with a magnifying glass i cant see that close

No secret with the gauges, just once the dash is foiled I paint the gauge faces black and before it dries just stick my finger lightly on the gauge (sometimes with a tissue held tight over the end of my finger) and twist. This just takes the paint off the high points. If it is giving me trouble and I am taking too much paint off I will repeat the process a couple of times alowing the paint to dry between each attempt.

I only do this because I dont have any decals for the gauges. Its an imperfect way to do this but the results are acceptable.

Another gauge trick is to mix black enamel paint with turps to a soup consistancy and then paint on. With the dash laying flat on its back. The liquid will not stick to the high parts and then the paint dries in the low parts. I also use that on grilles problem is I dont get the mix right for grilles. I think I try to do it in one go where it can be done in a few.
I have also done it your way as well and like you said it works well just like yours.

Lookin' super cool! The old black-wash trick is great and works on just about anything you want to bring out the detail in. Very nice work so far.
