frankenstude!
while i was in the model house today i found this amazing kit diecast it was and it was the weirdest thing i have ever seen! and it appealed so much that on the way home from the model house i made my mind up that i was guna buy it lol its called the frankenstude and this thing has dive bomber written allllllll over it haha so hopefully in the next few weeks ill have some other pics up of it i got one off the net and to my surprise it is an actual car!
in australia your suppose to be able to drive over a coke can to check the clearence on your vehicle isnt to low well hmmm testing that on this car u might have to stomp on the can first for it pass under the car and even then it would probably hit something i guarantee it

Re: frankenstude!
Hey Dude, Got some good news for ya, It's not diecast. It's made from resin, which means it's able to enter model comps!
Love the shape and style, can't wait to see some progress!

Re: frankenstude!
Yes, one big solid lump of resin with white metal parts if it's like the others in the series.
Testors/Model Master/Jimmy Flintstone IIRC
I've got the Mercster kit which is sort of like a '49 Merc narrowed and chopped and made into a highboy coupe.

Re: frankenstude!
I think Thom Taylor designed it from memory. Ive got a feature on it in American Rodder here somewhere.

well i finally got the kit im so pleased with it, shoey explained all the bits and how to's with it i had to do a metalurgy test on the rims to see if they were a alloy and i found there pewter but they still look awesome i found a heap of info on it but nothing of the paint it was designed by thom taylor yes checkmate apparently it had been in design since the late 80's and it took him ages to find a workshop that would build it but in 91 he found one it was the same guy that did cadzzilla one of the ZZ tops guys ordered one and the bonnet on it is longer then my gti! its got a lot of kool stuff on this car but after only 2 years of owning it after completion in 98 he sold it to a couple in las vegas :O what a waste why wasnt i considered as a potential buyer???

Re: frankenstude!
This brings back memories for me as I built it years ago as a display model for Hearns Hobbies in Melbourne. I reckon it's the best custom I've ever seen. Found this pic on the Net and it shows how the doors opened - weird.
The kit is around on eBay if anyone is interested. Hope you have fun with this - keep us posted.

Re: frankenstude!
lol it is an awesome kit ive only been able to find 1/35 scale models of it on ebay etc still by testors but my experiences with 1/35 car models = fail i maybe young but my eyes aint all that good ill stick with 1/24 lol but if i could get my hands on another one of these kits i would buy it in a heart beat just to do a different color kawasaki green or orange and put the 2 together on a plinth its a great kit i had problems with the axle though its either high dense stainless steel or tungsten cos i couldnt cut it with side cutters or a hacksaw had to use a angle grinder to cut it

Re: frankenstude!
well work on this has stalled as ive been pulling apart window crates made from hardwood and after 12 hours of pulling them apart with a 10 pound sledge hammer and a crow bar my hands are mc stuffed cant even hold a model at the moment so work shall re commense when my hands are bit steadier have been keeping my eye out on ebay for more kits the same so i can do a few variations orange and green mainly

progress update
well this beastie is coming along nicely got a few coats of paint on it and finished the mag wheels got most of it together just have to put the windows in and well i got a little something lined up for it that is goin make it look awesome seeing as its only a basic resin kit with no dash no seats no exhaust so im planning on fabricating a few bits n bobs to make it a little more impressive and when my camera stops being a PITA ill upload some piccies of the new and improved mc frankenstoode
