Re: Red Baron
Yeah - 4,000 rounds per minute without overheating. They're normally used mounted in aircraft or military vehicles. They have serious kickback so it would take a "Terminator" cyborg to hold one of these and fire it from the hip.
By contrast the M60 machine gun I used when in the Army fires about 500 rounds per minute.
If you're interested here is a link to a video of the "Gatling Gun" in action (demo) to the strains of music - bizarre!

Should look good on the Red Baron though!

Re: Red Baron
Cool video clip Tezza, It's hard to imagine this thing can shoot 4000 fire breathing rounds per minute & without even breaking a sweat! That's a beast!
Not sure if the baron can handle it?

Re: Red Baron
The Red Baron is back on the bench but not for long.
I was going to put alot into the Baron but I've got another project which I want to overload. I really want to finish this one so I'll just assemble and paint it as I seem to loose interest quickly with this build. The minguns are going on my next build.
The idea is someone rebuilt the baron a few years ago and did the body up right but used crap metal for everything else, which has now rusted.
First time rusting anything, I used the salt method. Base colours are dull red and brown, then I allowed the salt to dry, followed with a coat of Tamiya Bare metal.
After I scrubbing off the salt, I dusted it all with different rust and soot powders then sealed it with flat clear.
Made the front leaf spring ages ago.

Re: Red Baron
Finally finished this one.
Cheers Rob and Allan, the salting method isn't that hard to do. Once you give it a go, you soon realise how it works.
There's was a bit more I wanted to do to the Baron, but I was never going to get around to it. So I decided to just put it together and be done with it.
Thanks for following along guys, more pics in the showroom
