Hi all,

Would like some ideas on if it should have some mudguards.. yes or no ???? and ideas on tail lights... i have some auslowe truck ones ? But i think they look abit big. Re: Hilux with tray
should have mudgaurds, tail lights can be made by glueing square or rectangle pieces of plasticard of the correct size in place then painting the appropriate colors or u could drill holes in the rear panel and use the clear glaze type product to make round tail lights

Re: Hilux with tray
The Parts Box stuff varies as it is hand cast.
The last sheet I got from them was about 1/2mm on 1 side & 2 1/2 on the other. But being resin it's dead easy to sand down to a consistent thickness. Just lay out a fresh piece of sandpaper on a flat surface and rub the plate around on top.
I've also seen scale metal chequer plate. Not sure if it's photoetched or embossed.

Re: Hilux with tray
Making plates is easy.
Measure the real ones in inches and then use Micro$oft Powerpoint to draw them with mm for inches (so if they are 16 inches wide IRL make them 16mm wide in powerpoint).
Powerpoint has rectangles with rounded corners you can use and with a bit of trial and error you should be able to find a font which matches whatever they use up there.
Make the font size about 2 for the message along the bottom of the plate.
Print on a colour printer on plain paper and then just cut them out & glue them on with white glue. Be carefull not to use too much glue as some printer ink will run if there is loads of ink and it soaks through the paper.

Re: Hilux with tray
Looks really neat, although I prefer it without the mudguards.
You could also take a photo of your number plate and scale it to the right size and print it as well.

Re: Hilux with tray
looks nice I like it. For the plates I would head to your state department of transport web site and go to the personalised plates area type in what you want on the plates it will tell you if it in use and the show you what it would look like if the plate is being used it wont show you, But if you change the letters around it will. Then save the picture on your computer and cut and past the letters till they are in the right order then resize the picture to the right size and you will have the a correct copy for your car
