AMT kit with the AMT '59 Elky donk.
Whinges;
The "glass" is too small (built up additional lip round opening).
The bottom of the bed sits lower than the bottom of the cab (jacked up bed with blocks between foolr & rails).
The underside has great detail until it comes to the cab floor and bed floor and they are just blank.
Huge gaps visible from below up inside the doors and bed sides (bed sides may be prototypically correct but not the doors).

This is not an easy kit to get together cleanly, so well done on that front. Bed floor looks good too.

Not sure I get the stock air cleaner with polished alloy valve covers though... dunno

Fred that looks real sharp. I don't know about this kit but you've done a good job of it. I don't mind the stock cleaner Bryce - Fred is a fairly 'stock' sort of guy anyway. Laughing

Thanks folks.

You calling me fat Tezza? Very Happy

Bryce - IIRC I didn't like the look of the carbies so felt they needed hiding. Finned covers to brighten the engine bay up a bit.
Lets just say he got the valve covers for xmas & is saving up for a matching air cleaner. Bed floor is woodgrain printed from internet on plain paper. Glued down & then gloss cleared & foiled (actually its Hasegawa so it's strictly speaking filmed) & then satin cleared.

Very Nice build, I wasn't sure at first with the colour, but the longer I look at it the more I want it in my cabinet! Cheers

Looks good Fred bigthumbsup . I too wasnt sure about the colour but the more I look at it the more I like it. With the amount of issues this kit has (which is a shame because it has some really nice points) it showcases your clean building style which is normally overlooked because of the usually outrageous colour schemes you present us with. again bigthumbsup

That's hidious, good job Fred. IIRC there was a fix for the floor of the cab in SA when the 55 Cameo was new (yeah, long time ago) they put a template to copy in the mag but it only fixed the gaps between tub and cab not the detail or lack of.

Another nice job,Fred. Very tidy. Newest truck I've done is a '55 Nomad.I'm usually not big on 'em but this has possibilities. Please stop making me spend money. swear . It'll be a while after the pain in the arse I'm trying to finish now. Gotta pick a cherry for my next build. Take it easy. Best,Bill

Very nice! Thanks for the heads up on this kit's dodgy bits, I assume the 55 is much the same? It's on my possible next build list.

Not built the '55. But by all accounts it has the same problems.

Hmmm. I didn't have too much of a problem with the rear. Yes it was a poor fit but some light sanding and it went in OK with gaps small enough that Testors clear parts glue hid them.
