White 4000
Hi all, built this about 8yrs ago, based on a real truck that operated in the '70s. It was used to carry bassalt from Bass Point, near Wollongong, to Port Botany during constuction of the third run-way at Mascot International Airport. It was set up this way, with the pusher axle, to run legally over Mt. Ousley in accordance with the weight restrictions of the day. Cheers, Gary.

Re: White 4000
That's a really nice piece of modelling Gary. Not too 'au fait' with truck axles - is a pusher axle driven or free rotating? Can it be removed or lifted when not required?

Re: White 4000
Hey tezza43, a pusher axle is free rotating, & can be either fixed or lifted. Pretty sure back in the 70's it would have been fixed. Cheers, Gary.

Re: White 4000
So the idea being that when there's enough weight in the back to cause axle loading issues the suspension has compressed putting the extra wheels on the road?
Good job. Particularly on the weathering.

Hi Fred, yeah thats the idea, load it up puts the axle down; take the weight off, & up comes the axle. Cheers, Gary.
