Primer Poop Empty Primer Poop

Post by OZBUILDER Sat 29 Jan 2011, 1:27 pm

Can someone tell me how to remove primer from the body and chassis without sanding the whole thing. It appears someone (ME) didnt wash these properly and the primer crazed like crazy on my Galaxie. Please save me from throwing it back into the box.

Testors ELO will remove it, if its Tamiya primer anyway.
I just got 2 containers from Frontline Hobbies, you can order online.

Sounds like you've got a bigger problem as crazing shouldn't happen from not washing the body etc, what primer are you using??

Brake fluid. Unless its resin.
Then a nice strong caustic soda solution.

Its a cheap automotive primer from bunning's. Which i've not had problems before with. Maybe cause its an old AMT kit its abit softer and the plastic didn't like it at all. What a PITA!!!!
Well Paul i did spray it on a warmish dy and i may not (read: probably didn't:) shae the can enough.
Well i guess i better buy some more sand paper.

I'd put the answer down to shitty primer!! Grab some Tamiya Primer and you won't have any drama's and you'd be surprised how many car's one little can will do. It's not cheap but neither are the kits were painting so I'd rather do it right the 1st time. HTH

White knight primer?
That's all I use (except for Tamiya on red plastic).
It crazes for me if I get carried away and put it on too heavy as I am getting to the bottom of the can. I suspect this is because at that point there is less pigment and more thinners

If the primer has crazed like crazy I'd say the plastic itself has been given a bit of a hammering. Good Luck.
