A different kind of '37 Ford
Hi,
I'm new to this forum. And I want to show you my last project.
The model is based on a 1937 Ford Pickup that I converted to a snowmobile. The tracks were from AFV-Club and suitable for a 1/35 Churchill Mk 2 tank.
The push axles are made out of plastic rod. The small tires are donated from a 1/35 Italeri Jeep
Now to the interior.
The two additional levers are for the rear brakes to brake either the right side or the left side.
After the final painting the hole in the seat will be cover with some grass to simulate the filling. The spring is made out of copper wire
The steering wheel knob is made out of 0.0787 and 0.0394 rod. At first I drilled a 0.0394 hole in the thicker rod and cut to the right length. The steering wheel was cut and the small rod was pushed on. The knob it self was made out of the above montined material and glued to a modiefied steering wheel.
To create the worn and chipped look of the paint I used the salt technique. along with the hairspray technique.
On this project I tried the first time Distress Crackle Paint.
I first sprayed the wood strips with black ink and then I applied several coats of Weather Wood , Picket Fence, Old Paper and Frayed Burlap. To get a deeper apperance of the cracks I used black ink, which wasn't that what I want. You can see this on the two far left wood strips and the two smaller stripes. Therefore I used The Detailer Black to get a different look. This was used on all other wood strips.
My snowmobile is almost finished. Just a bit snow is missing.
Any comments are welcome!
Michael

That's brilliant Michael , I spent a lot of time on an American Sno-Cat forum researching the mini in my avatar and your model looks so much like a lot of the early snow vehicles in photo's on the site . Well done on such a detailed build .

Congratulations on a top notch build. Terrific weathering effects - is that Distress Crackle Paint easy to find?

I tried the first time salt over hairspary on a other model, on a rat rad project I used water instead of hairspray. I think that it is easier to use hairspry for salt.
Damn Cranky'S show a how to in a other forum how to get a chipped paint look on a model, with hairspray.
Paint you model with your favorite rust mixture. Cover it with a matt coat, I use the one from Gunze Sanyo. Apply hairspray, spray the model with your color choice and wait until dry. Then use a tooth pick chip the paint of. It is a time consuming process. But the result speaks for it self.

Wowwww
Friend who work wonderful, perfect. A beautiful idea of how to transform the assembly always something new, it could have been just a 37 Ford pickup, but you did something unusual and very creative, congratulations, I liked the result.
Hugs.
