My Candy Tee
Here’s my take on the Double T kit. I painted it candy red, Alcladded the firewall and windscreen frame and added some smoothy caps to the chrome reverse wheels. Not sure what all the fuss is surrounding this kit. I found it rather crude and disappointing. But I am glad to finally have a bucket on my shelf.
I prefer it topless, but here’s a shot with the top up:

Re: My Candy Tee
I agree with you about the fuss. I have the kit also and it is pretty basic...I think a lot of the fuss is a combination of the Chopped coupe body and nostalgia for some of us older guys who remember this as being a ground breaking kit back in the 60s. Though I think the new slicks are pretty good. Love your build up...a real period piece.

Beautiful build - just the way I remember them. Love the engine detail and the solid wheels.

Re: My Candy Tee
Hmmmm. Mysterious vanishing posts again.
I think the fuss was due to this being a sought after, and therefore expensive, kit which few people would build even if they got hold of one.
The double dragsters the same - dated (or crude if you like) but with great new tyres. Build one and be thankful for what we have today.
Great paint Bryce. Whats the base coat?

I think you answered your own question!!! sure there's other T's on the market but this one seems to have all the right bits, also it was the Un-obtainium factor aswell.
......Cool little T BTW!!

Thanks – the base coat is a 50/50 mix of Tamiya gold leaf and clear red. It gives a nice metallic pink colour that requires less clear red to get colour coverage.
Thanks for the nice words guys.

That explains why I couldn't decide if it was gold or silver.
Any chance of a few pics out in the sun? I bet it really pops.

Re: My Candy Tee
Really nice T you have there.
Agree about the kit but it does make us appreciate more modern tooling.

Re: My Candy Tee
I like the kit, it's a great platform to start with to build an old hot rod and it has many options.
Your version looks super sweet, just how a T Bucket should look.

Crude and topless, now there's something to dream about!
Great job as usual Bryce and yeah the kit maybe a tad crude, but it's a very old tool and has lotsa parts plus those gorgeous tyres.
