Super Model car Sunday - Perth's NNL
Hi everyone, I wanted to give modellers all over Australia plenty of notice for this year’s Super Model Car Sunday. Last year saw 73 entrants with over 650 models on the table – not bad considering we had horizontal rain for most of the day (and have barely had a drop since, I might add!) 1100 spectators braved the ugly weather and had a great time regardless!
This year is a week later than normal due to the school holidays being late.
The themes for this year are
Low Fins – The dynamic Duo of Ken Searle and Allan Bunter are bringing their enormous feeler gauges back again to see who can build the lowest fifties car. You’re not allowed to touch the ground (apart from the tyres of course) and cutting the tops off the tyres is considered bad form but apart from that – go nuts!
Your First Model
Some of you might still have it, others will have to recreate it (I just did – an Airfix 1910 Model T Ford in 1/32nd scale). Let’s see where we all started our modelling journey.
Cars of the Sixties
The Sixties are now in their fifties and this theme will give you a chance to participate regardless of whether you build American, Australian, European or Japanese. Variety is the name of the game!
Model Manufacturers of the World.
Time to get out your most obscure models and hopefully the box to go with them as well. We’ve got 24 companies listed on our entry form – maybe there’s more!
The Scale Trail
Using Model A and ‘32 Roadsters and C2 and C3 Corvettes we’re going to see how many scales we can display on a table so bring along examples of these two types of cars in whatever scales you’ve got and we’ll show our spectators just what scale modelling really means.
This year’s show is on Sunday July 17th from 9a.m til 4p.m. For entry forms and more information contact Alan Barton on 08 9448 0110 or ausbodies1929@hotmail.com
See you there!
