66 style side ute
yes another chev to add to my ever growing chevy collection this is uhhh...number...i dunno i lost track of em... this was a painfull kit to build many long nights spent swearing at some little piece that didnt want to go together that if it wasnt for the fact that im getting better at building and have set a goal to see how many bits are left at the end of a build ( keeping the number as low as possible) there wouldnt be any wheels on this or tray for that matter or bonnet it would be a cab chassis with motor simple lol
personal note to self " DO NOT FORGET! where that N scale steam train is otherwise i will rip the house apart looking for it next time i use the train layout"

Re: 66 style side ute
I think it looks better with the tray and wheels on it mate.
This is a nice looking pickup that maybe is begging for a brighter colour scheme? Or maybe even a "rat" black finish? However you've made a good job of the build and presentation - I like it.

Re: 66 style side ute
Better call it a STEP SIDE too, style side was a Ford P/U about 63-67 or thereabouts

Re: 66 style side ute
Actually, a style side has the flat sides on the bed (not just Ford), where as a step side has exactly that, a step side.fat141 wrote:Better call it a STEP SIDE too, style side was a Ford P/U about 63-67 or thereabouts

Re: 66 style side ute
Actually "styleside" is a Ford model ID on their P/U from 1961-1966. (ref. Ford pickup history Tom Brownell 1994)
1957-60 Fords were referred to as having refrigerator styling
53-53 presented original F100
48-52 known as Bonus Built
Chev's first slab sides were55-58 and were called 'CAMEOS'
1959's slab side was called a FLEETSIDE.
INTERNATIONAL first slab side appeared in 1957 and and was known simply as A-line
Dodge first slab side was in 1957 and was known as "Sweptside" and it was really just a step side box with car rear quarters and went on to become 'Custom Sports Specials
Studebaker ........Havent got a fkn clue
Cheers

Not your bad mate, I was only being a smart arse and showing off. No offence meant, hence all the little smiley faces. What you say is dead right (fk, did I say that?)

lol ill go with the term ute? it was a first attempt at using clears on this project tezza metallic base with a heap of red clear over it looks better in the daylight as all models do unfortunately the camera doesnt capture the color very well but give a few months and ill think of something else to paint it with i like the rat rod look but dont think im ready to attempt it yet
