Nissan S15
I have a bit of a thing for these cars and plan to own one at some point in the next few years. It will probably look a bit like this. This is the Aoshima 'Top Secret' kit. I have been plugging away at it on the side for a few months. Finished it up this weekend so thought I’d show it off. It’s painted Mica blue rattle can with some Scale Motorsport Carbon Fibre decals. The seats have some blue flocking as well, otherwise it’s pretty much what comes in the box. I left off a few bits like the grader blade for the front and a LOT of decals and I still need to make up some plates, but for all intents and purposes it’s finished.

Very nice Bryce.
You better get your S15 sooner rather than later, they're becoming very popular as rally cars these days.

Typicaly nice build of the model Bryce, but seriously, I can't imagine anyone actually want to own a Datsun.

Why not? They've made a bunch of fantastic race cars over the years from the innovative 240Z to the ubiquitous 1600 and the all conquering Godzilla GTR. How many famous Toyotas can you name?

By their own admission, a cheap copy of the Toyota 2000GTBryce wrote:They've made a bunch of fantastic race cars over the years from the innovative 240Z
Another fine unit copied from the market dominating Toyota Corona.Bryce wrote:to the ubiquitous 1600
Isn't that the car that Toyota beat year after year in the Japan GT Series with the not quite so techy or four wheel driven Supra?Bryce wrote:and the all conquering Godzilla GTR.
Crown, Corona, Carina, Corolla, Supra, Camry, Hilux, LandCruiser, Prado, Celica, 200GT, MR2, these are only the really famous ones, but there's lots more. How many famous Toyotas can you name?
How did Nissan go in Formula One? Or at LeMans? Have they ever won The World Rally Championship? Indianapolis 500 or the NASCAR Sprint Cup? How about a NASCAR Truck series or Baja 500?
I think Datsun may have won Bathurst once, but then Toyota's Bathurst record is listed in the Guiness Book of Records.

Re: Nissan S15
GOTCHA! Let me know if you need any help getting that hook out of your mouth Carps, I know a good dentist...
Seriously though, I know Toyota have built limited production racing specials in the past, but Nissan made their everyday cars performance oriented hence why they are so heavily represented in club racing to this day.
Also interesting to note that two of the cars you mention that actually have a sporting pedigree and wear a Toyota badge (2000GT and MR2) were actually built by Yamaha – further indicating the need for Toyota to outsource a performance image!
Can’t recall Toyota actually taking any manufacturer championships in F1. Actually didn’t they recently give up because they couldn’t win? And what engine, trans and diff are they running in that ‘Camry NASCAR’? Does it have anything at all to do with a production Toyota or is it just a marketing ploy to get some brand awareness amongst the rednecks in order to sell some more super reliable and very boring automotive medocrity?
Good point. And the Nissan GTR beat Holden and Ford in an outright Bathurst win before they banned it for being too good... I can't recall a Corolla, Corona, Camry, Celica, Landcruiser, Hilux or even a Supra ever doing that!
