'55 Chevy Nomad
This one's for Todd. It's the AMT kit slammed to the deck with a few subtle custom touches. This was my first and last attempt at a 'true' candy paint job. I used Tamiya clear red on top of Gunze's crazy gold flake and it looked sensational. Then I put on a few coats of tamiya clear but it just never dried. Even now, about five year's later it is still sticky! I would like to try this again one day if I can find some clear red paint that I can trust...

Re: '55 Chevy Nomad
the colour itself is gorgeous, shame about the clear laquer problems you encountered.
ive got a bonnet here that i painted with humbrol enamal and clear coat was tamiya acrylic and its been 4 months and still very soft and easily marked.
i know enamals take a long time to cure, maybe thats what happened on this build bryce, your base coats might not have hardened????
is this nomad a slammer??? very cool cruiser

No enamels on this one - all acrylics. I was using metho to thin acrylics back then, so that may or may not have something to do with it. Although I find all Tamiya paints stay too tacky for my liking...
The kit has an engine - just an SBC w/ triples - but it's an old build and not my greatest work.
