Scale ACT May 21-22
Hi guys, the ACT Scale Modellers Society is having its annual competition and exhibition on May 21-22.
Location is at the Harmonie German Club, 49 Jerrabomberra Avenue, Narrabundah, ACT.
If you are coming along check out the ACTSMS website page - http://www.actsms.asn.au/index.php?page=scaleact-11
Registration is online (free) or on the day ($4 per model).
Although this is dominated by aircraft and tank models I would personally like to see more cars.

Well with nearly 30 military catagories(aircraft and AFV) and only 2 car and 1 truck catagory, that'd explain why the car numbers are always so low. Maybe they should expand their automotive catagories a little and attract some more cars and trucks, if you want people to attend you need to cater for them.

Hey Rob, I went to one of their meetings and shows when I was down there about 5 years ago, talk about one eyed, die hard military modellers, man was I the enemy, I think one guy showed a bit of interest in my cars but the rest of em, not a chance. Should have painted something in cammo, see what response I got, haha.checkmate wrote:dozman wrote:Although this is dominated by aircraft and tank models I would personally like to see more cars.

When you think about it it kinda makes sense as a lot of them were ex military or still serving in desk jobs.
Cheers

Spot on Rob and Tubs, They shoot themselves in the feet from go to whoa. All my mates who build for these categories, have had someone argue that they have used the wrong colour or parts. Where as we auto modellers are happy go lucky people, and don't care about that. So why not have more categories for us happy bunch of sod's!

Re: Scale ACT May 21-22
I can understand it's primarilly a military show, just as Ballarat is mainly an automotive show, but you get a better spectrum of models and modellers if you cater for everyone a bit better.
We're all addicted to plastic one way or another and it's great to check out all types of models, even if your preference is cars or planes.

Nice to see some cars entered, thought the weathered 65 pickup looked fantastic.
