Re: '66 El Camino Tank
Thanks guys!
My plans are to turn this into a combat ready vehicle, with armor plating, guns, camo paint, etc.
I've started on the front bumper/grille.
Plated up the windows and roof,
Made a new hood from a smaller tank body, mounted 3 cameras up front, hinged roof doors and added bits 'n pieces to the rear window.

Combat ready hell - I need this for my daily drive to work!
I'm keenly watching this build - I hope car manufacturers are doing the same! Nice one Clutch.

Re: '66 El Camino Tank
Thanks very much Tezza,
would make morning traffic fun!
Forgot to mention the roof chop,
I had to chop the roof otherwise the driver might get shot in the back of the head by his own gunner!

Re: '66 El Camino Tank
Hey that is cool,
I reckon that'd look ok with normal wheels,
with some covers over them.
Have to keep a eye on this one!

Re: '66 El Camino Tank
Thanks guys.
Armor plated up the body, every inch is covered.
Added some side trim
Put a frame inside the roof hatches and handles
For the rivet counters.
151 of the little buggers!

Re: '66 El Camino Tank
Absolutely superb work Clutch, I'm loving it.
I'm running an "End of Days" group build over on the Kitmaker network and there are a few mad builds going on there as well (in between a lot of rambling over Zombies and Aliens and the best ways to kill them).

Re: '66 El Camino Tank
Thanks guys,
Cheers for the link Rigby, lots of cool builds there! I've been looking around Kitmaker for the past few days, getting famillar with the site. May join next week.
Working on the interior this past week.
I started on the interior knowing only that I wanted the driver and co-pilot to be separate from one another.
-I flipped the inner doors so the smooth side was facing inwards, made a dividing panel full of holes and I'm using these resin bomber seats from ThePartsBox.
-Made a roll cage with arm rest style controls. (two joysticks for the driver and one joystick and a control panel for the co-pilot).
-The dash, Driver is on the right side, he has two monitors mounted to the dash. The co-pilot has one main monitor between his legs and his side of the dash has been modified.
-The dash has been painted gunship grey and detailed with cell phone bits and pieces.
-Shaped three joysticks from round rod and added red triggers.
-Seats painted with Tamiya bare metal and black washed.
-I need to print some images for the monitors., 8 in total.
The idea is the driver steers the tank by using joysticks (one for each track). He has two monitors showing the front and rear view. There's a small camera between the monitors looking at the driver so the co-pilot is always in contact. There's button controls for the driver on the right side of the dash. The driver does nothing more than drive.
The co-pilot has a lot more going on.
His arm chair controls consist of the right side being a joystick, which operates the front mounted guns (yet to be made). The left side of his arm controls is the master control panel. From here he can control just about everything from changing camera views, swap weapons, communicate etc.
The co-pilot has three small black monitor screens on the top level of the dash, these are for the hood mounted cameras. Then he has two more screens and a bunch of buttons on the dash. The main or primary monitor sits between his legs (needs an image decal). He can bring up any image from the smaller screens to the primary screen (using the arm chair controls) and then use the joystick to lock on to the target.
All monitor screens need decals and all detail bits are from cell phone circuitry.
Basically I sat in a chair and thought about how I would like to drive/navigate a tank, this is what I came up with. Not sure how practical this setup would be in real life but I think it looks pretty cool.

What does it matter if it's practical or not? Main thing is imagination and creatitivity. Functionality can come later. Just enjoy your build - it's wild and crazy and absolutely riveting to watch this grow. Love it!

Re: '66 El Camino Tank
Thanks guys, actually it didn't take that long to build. Once i got going, the rest just seemed to flow.
I'm definitely having a ton of fun with this build and I'm glad you guys are also enjoying it. When I'm finished, I hope this vehicle can pass as a 1:1, that's why I'm trying to keep it realistic. In a way, by trying to be practical, it's helping me to be creative. If that make any sense?

Great work mate as usual. At least it won't be in any classes that I enter so I won't get my arse kicked by it
