Big Bertha - 66 Galaxy
I've had a Tamiya Mercedes 500SL engine & suspension sitting waiting for something to go into ever since I built Mercedes Blingz.
Trouble was it's 1/24 and everything I thought about donering it into was 1/25 and was too narrow.
Until I tried it against an AMT '66 Galaxy.
I've got the suspension fitted (just to stir the pot even more that's Holden Atlantis Blue paint...).
And the rad.
And built the engine (Holden Absinthe Yellow).

Is this the car of the future - a multicultural vehicle? I've gotta hand it to you Fred - you come up with some whacky (but good) ideas. Love the whole thing!

Yeah that's cool. How much power does a 500SL produce?

Re: Big Bertha - 66 Galaxy
The early 90's 500sl (the Tamiya version) produced
322 hp @ 5500 rpm
332 ft-lbs. @ 4000 rpm
Another Fred crazy idea that I like, this wiil be good.

Re: Big Bertha - 66 Galaxy
Thanks folks.
Colour? I'm thinking Silver (in keeping with the Mercedes theme).

Re: Big Bertha - 66 Galaxy
Yeah, I know Paul, but I don't have a quad cam Ford donk to slot into it and I wanted to build it up as a retrotech cruiser.
After much debate with myself I shaved all the badges & trim last night. I wasn't going to do it as I like the look of chrome against silver (and the bumpers will remain chrome) but in the end when my version was made the moulds were just too worn to give detail that would survive under paint.

Re: Big Bertha - 66 Galaxy
Managed to get some clear on today.
Which was loaded with The Parts Box ultraviolet bling powder. That's over "Quicksilver" BTW.
And here is the inside with a RHD conversion.

Re: Big Bertha - 66 Galaxy
I'm going with the Mercedes wheels & tyres. Big flat chrome caps with vents round the edges and lowish profile tyres.
