Van/Trailer/Sprintcar
I scored this van and trailer real cheap off evil bay awhile ago. It's been sitting there waiting for me to decide what to do with it. Have decided to go with a sprintcar transporter that may have been fairly comon in the 80's.
The wheels & tyres, mirrors & front nudge bar came from my Desert Rat, & the trailer wheels were from the parts box.

Re: Van/Trailer/Sprintcar
Thanks mate
This isn't the sprintcar that will be with this set up though, the one that'll I'll be building up for it is an old Sammy Swindell Blue Max sprintcar

Re: Van/Trailer/Sprintcar
should look good mate, i spend my time trying to build more upto date sprinters, have posted a few pics of WIP that i have started, great to see some one else who likes the sprinters, not much interest in them here, have seen very few posts with sprintcars in them, look forward to seeing this build come to life

should be a grouse looking combo once its done keep us updated
Harley fan, once I can get an affordable one (shouldnt be too hard with the reissue coming out soon) I'll do one to go with my scratched modified and super saloon (and one day in the not too distant future, scratch built stockcar)

Re: Van/Trailer/Sprintcar
sounds cool Door slammer fan, they are hard to come by now,and at reasonable prices as well, the re release will be a welcome one for me, i read on another forum I am a member of that they will not be re released in Australia, so time will tell, I do look forward to seeing what you come up with thoughdoorslammerfan wrote:should be a grouse looking combo once its done keep us updated

Cool project mate, have to get me one of these some day. Good to hear they are going to be re-released; even if they aren't going to be readily available here, I reckon a few kits will find their way down here some way

Re: Van/Trailer/Sprintcar
Lucky for Checkmate I didn't cut it up then, reckon it would've looked cooooool as a "pickup"
Hopefully they'll release some new one's as well as re releasing some old ones

Re: Van/Trailer/Sprintcar
the only sprintcar rerelease will be Steve Kinser's Bass Pro sponsoured car #11, no new tooling so kit will be same old thing that has been round for ages with new decals, not a great delite to a modern sprintcar nut but good to be able to get some more kits at a reasonable price to use as the base platform to modify into some of todays drivers with a load of scratch building and aftermarket parts that are available from various sources these daysDeadly wrote:Lucky for Checkmate I didn't cut it up then, reckon it would've looked cooooool as a "pickup"

Re: Van/Trailer/Sprintcar
Y'know, I've yet to build one of the many sprintcar kits in my stash, but I have done more than a few 1/1 scale cars.
Johnboy chassis, Rodek 360block, Dart heads, kinsler injection......... shot a few photers of 'em too.
Nice rig you're building, I guess the race car will be black and red like the truck? We did our first Cool Chassis 410 car in those colours.

Re: Van/Trailer/Sprintcar
nice colours mate, hint of Brook Tatnell to it, that sure is an old style chassis you got there, i have a few of those in my stash, one day i must have a go at a few old school sprinters ( very new to the sprintcar scene myself ) will have to seek out some pics of older Aussie cars to have a go at, the cages on them are just not compatible to convert into more recent looking chassis that i have been attempting to replicate, bit like this WIP, original barwork is grey plastic new bars made from 1.6 mm styrene rod

Carps.....I offically hate you Lucky bugga !! I used to race Formula 500's.........
........the only things I didn,t build on this car was the fibreglass tail, the seat (was from the car before this). Everything else (including the rear axle & hubs) I made.
The sprintcar is mainly red panels with the black chassis. Decided to go with the black on the van as I thought it had too much red.
P.S.....If you ever want to offload some of your sprintcar stash, let me know

Finally got a chance to do some more on this this afternoon. It's basically all painted now, just needs to be assembled.
The van & trailer are almost finished.
