The test mule – ’64 Mercury Empty The test mule – ’64 Mercury

Post by Bryce Wed 09 Nov 2011, 4:54 pm

I have been getting to grips with a new airbrush recently and this one has been the blank canvas receiving my attention. It was supposed to be silver flake with magenta scallops but one of the things I have learned recently is that gloss lacquer will actually penetrate through other lacquers and bring nail polish to the surface. It’s a lesson that I hope to put to good use in the future. At first I was devastated but it has grown on me and I have decided to finish it anyway.

Looks great. must have been a bugger of a masking job though.

What exactly do you mean by "brings to the surface"?
Do you mean you put the silver over the magenta nail polish and then when you cleared the magenta showed through the silver?

Did you sneak up on it with the clear or just go bang, heavy coat, nice shine, oh f##k?
