My Jake’s Coupe Tribute Empty My Jake’s Coupe Tribute

Post by Bryce Tue 22 Nov 2011, 6:17 pm

This one started as the Revell SNAP kit. I added hood side louvers from a Revell deuce roadster and a narrowed ’37 truck grill to make it resemble Jake Jacobs’ ’34 coupe. The wheels are big and little wires from a ’30 woody and AMT deuce respectively. I left the kit curbside but added a quickchange and ‘A’ spring combo out back. The front is Revell deuce tube axle and four bars and scratchbuilt shocks. Some parts box handles, mirrors, head and tail lights and a plate frame finish things off.

I couldn’t resist taking a few shots with its little (i.e. lower) brother, my tribute to Robert Lomas’ 34 coupe. They are both based on the Revell SNAP kit.

Beautiful work Bryce. They are both so different and yet share a common "psyche". That front end treatment on Jake's Coupe is brilliant. Well done mate! Great pics BTW.

Great work Bryce. It's good to see what can be done with that snap kit with a little imagination and a lot of work.

Top job, shame you didn't have any firestone dirt track tyres but it's a damn fine rendition of Jim's old yeller road warrior.

Do you have a Buick Nailhead in your junkpile?

Thanks Carps - I tried the tyres out of Paul's Black Widow kit as they have perfect tread pattern but they are WAY too tall for a 1/25 scale kit...these ones came from a Chinese Cadillac! Very Happy

Yeah I got a nailhead engine but this one's a curbside - too much work to put an engine in.
