1965 Lincoln continental convertible
Well it's been ages since i have built a new model.. A new baby last year etc has slowed things for a bit but it's slowly happening now.
This is the Amt kit and it's really quite basic, but those that know me will know i can't leave it that way.... The car has been lowered, tubs modified to suit the big wheels. They are 1/18th and about 23" on this car. It's a little bit different to my usual builds but i like that.
It has the exhaust, tailshaft and diff moulded into the chassis I have removed the moulded in exhaust and tailshaft but decided the diff would be too much of a headache to replace... The engine was also kinda basic so the revell thunderbolt kit donated the engine and drive shaft which will be modded to suit. This is my first go at cutting up a car so taking things steady..
This is the chassis part way through the removal/repair process.
I decided black was the only colour for a car like this. This is my first go with automotive rattle cans and i'm happy with the result! This is straight from the can, no polish.
This is a mock up with the wheels on. I think they suit it.
I'll post some more pics up soon.

Looks good so far.
A word of warning though - the fit of the front & rear chrome/lights/valance parts on mine were terrible and needed a lot of fettling.

Re: 1965 Lincoln continental convertible
This is the interior colour scheme. Still more detail to be added here.
Front end mods to fit the thunderbolt 427 and the big wheels. Quite a lot of material has been removed here.
The donor radiator from the thunderbolt had to be grafted onto the existing kit assembly for the hoses to line up.

Re: 1965 Lincoln continental convertible
Next up is the 427 thunderbolt engine.
The sump pan has been cut and shut to make it more shallow. It protruded out way too far on this kit. The starter motor is wired, ignition leads done with pe dividers to keep it neat, the alternator has a pe fan on the front of it, the hoses have pe hose clamps. A pain to do at first but ok when you get the hang of it! The pics don't do them justice. The alternator is also wired to the battery. There is a pe radiator cap with a pressure release valve on the header tank too.
The block has a ground cable installed on the head with a pe cable lug attaching it. (you might have guessed I like photo etch)
I have put a slight wash over parts of the chrome in the low points to add depth. It was a bit too "blingy" without it. Again the pic doesn't show it the best. No headers yet I hav to make them yet... None I have will match with the engine swap...
More pics to come as I get some more finished..
