Another Deuce Done!
Well it appears to have been a relaxing yet productive day.
The Deuce Tudor is done, but not dusted, think it has a build up of static electricity coz it attracts dust like light attracts moths.
I was after the Bobby Alloway look and I'm pretty happy that I think I got it.
The idea was to come up with a contemporary style hot rod Hemi powered but stock bodied, with a few subtle changes like the filled roof (using a ribbed wagon panel) and removal of a few small details like the down lamps and spare wheel.
So now it's on the shelf along with it's more traditional mate.

Re: Another Deuce Done!
The only way you can get a ford to go fast, put a HEMI in it, no seriously this is a really nice build & i like it's stance, the Ardun powered rod rocks to.

Re: Another Deuce Done!
Maybe it needs one of those rubber anti static strips you always used to see hanging down under the back of cars (and never quite reaching the ground!)
Good one Carps, although I think if you read the instructions carefully Revell avoided any mention of it being a Hemi. That and the weird exhaust port spacing was obviously enough to placate the copyright lawyers and keep Chrysler from the door.

Beautiful build Carps. How did you get the timber effect for the dash, looks good.

Re: Another Deuce Done!
Thanx again guys.
Kane & anybody else who is interested, the woodgraining is relatively easy to do, just a little time consuming.
To do these parts I started with a semi gloss Humbrol dark brown painted on with a squirrel hair brush.
When it's touch dry the second shade in this case a woody orange colour (also Humbrol semi gloss) was dry brushed over the dark colour, this time using a brush with relatively stiff bristles.
My dry brush technique is to load the brush with paint then get rid of most of it on a paper towel, until there's just enough left that it leaves light streaks of colour on the darker shade.
Because the darker shade isn't perfectly dry the two colours tend to mix.
If it looks like wood after this, I leave it to dry, if I think it needs more, as I did here, I add a lighter shade, in this case a Humbrol flat colour called 'mast oak' which is a really light almost pine like shade and do the dry brush thing again.
When dry brushing, remember that the grain in wood doesn't go in straight lines, so wiggle the dry brush around a bit to simulate the grain patterns.
Walnut can be simulated the same way only different. Instead of using a dry brush for the second and subsequent shades, dab them on with a sponge.
I prefer to use flat or semi gloss for the timber as there's many more woody tones available in this type of paint.
Once it's dry and your happy with the effect, clear coat with gloss or satin to give depth and add more realism.
If you are going to use this method on a woody wagon's body panels, take extra care to get right into the edges when doing the insert panels. Do them first, then mask them neatly and paint the main structure last. Once you're happy it looks like wood, apply the gloss clear coat.

Re: Another Deuce Done!
Great tip Carps, I'll have to try that for wood, I do dry brush for finer details, but never tried wood grain!

Re: Another Deuce Done!
The woodgrain effect for the bed floor of my F1 pick-up was achieved the same way with different colours.
It also helps here that the woodgrain is embossed into the plastic, so it catches the dry applied paint.
