Mopar Muscle
Things have been a bit slow on here lately so thought I'd post some more of my older mopar muscle builds. Feel free to add to this thread if you have some mopar muscle to show off!
First up is a '69 Dodge Dart GTS. This was the first model I built after a long break from model building encompassing high school, girls, beer, uni, beer, more girls and beer and work. Anyways I was living out of home in a flat in Hawthorn and Saturday afternoon boredom got the better of me so I went out and bought a model kit. Took forever to finish it but it got me hooked again - here it is:

'70 Dodge Challenger T/A
This one is based on a real car I saw in a magazine. Quite an outrageous car at the time - factory fitted hood scoop, leg burner exhaust, front and rear spoiler, hood pins and triple carbs. The colour was supposed to be 'Panther Pink' and is very magenta in real life - this was the closest I could find in a spray can at the time. It's called 'Musk' but it's too light. I think it's an XU1 colour. I have since found the right colour in a spray can so am on the look out for a '70 Charger kit to do in this colour. Mopar had the best colour chart in the '70s...

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda
Another one inspired by colour. This one is 'Sassy Grass Green' and I found a pretty good match in an enamel rattle can from Bunnings. The front bumper is painted as was an option at the time and it runs the ubiquitous hemi and a set of Keystone mags. The bill board stripes on these were flat black from the factory, so I painted them on the decal sheet and then trimmed them out - I was pretty stoked with the results...

Re: Mopar Muscle
Nice work on all Bryce, i have some of the Go Mango colour for a Nascar i will do at some stage. You cannot say Dodge were shy about having cars noticed on the road.
Re: Mopar Muscle
As a fellow Mopar fan all I can say is awesome, bloody awesome. Love the Dart as I owned a Val hardtop many moons ago. Also a 73 Charger. The only suggestion I wouold made to make these models even more realistic is that they need some old oil stains around the front of the motor.....oh you mean that was just my Vals...oh dear.

Thanks Pete - having owned a few Vals in my time I think you're pretty much on the money with the oil stains... However I don't think they'd be confined to the front of the engine. Those rope rear mains don't tend to seal all that well either!

Re: Mopar Muscle
The one car i wish i had of bought was a genuine 69 Hemi dart. It was for sale at Dandy Performance in the early 80s for $6,000. I still kick myself when i think of it.

Beautiful builds Bryce, and thanks for the colour swatches - they are also useful reference for other cars. Chrysler were always (and still are) good at marketing unique cars, and wild colour schemes were part of their tactics to attract a younger audience.

Thanks Todd - as you may have guessed I was going through a bit of a "super detailing" phase at the time. I'm over all that now - I just want them to look good on my shelf.

Like this one, valued last year at nearly 3/4 million US greenbacks!
Low mileage all numbers matching factory stocker. Fully licensed and rarely driven more than 1/4 mile at a time.
Runs low 10s all day long.

Things are a bit slow on here this week, so thought I’d give this thread a bump and update with my latest. Hopefully some of the newbies have some mopar muscle to contribute…?
Feel free to add to this thread if you have some mopar muscle to show off!

Re: Mopar Muscle
I did a couple of hemi cuda's a while back.
And this was the dart i did. I love this kit. I am in the process of getting all the bit together to build a Hemi Dart version.

Bryce, do you realise Revell are releasing a '68 Hemi Dart? Wouldn't waiting for that and then kit bashing make it easier to build a '69?
I have no idea what you're talking about...
My '69 Dart was a Revell kit built straight from the box. Great kit by the way - I highly recommend it.

Sorry Bryce, all those purty colours confused me. That remark should have been addressed at TuffXR .
