Lets go Drag Racing...
Hi everyone, welcome to my new build which hopefully I will be able to keep up and do another WIP.
After the disastrous effort which was my last build and ended up being thrown across the room and stomped on, I'm actually excited about building this one.
I'm not really sure how I'll go with this, I want to make it detailed, but not over the top. I'm using the cars the American guys build as inspiration.
I have the colour scheme worked out but that will be divulged later.
Essentially, the idea for this, is if it were my team and car that I was running. Sponsors are sorted and everyone is excited to be involved.
Not much of a start, just been cleaning up the body and started cleaning the rollcage, very tedious.
These are the wheels I will use, Pegasus, yet to be painted, but I think the rear tyres are too big, so I will have to go back the original kit ones.
Not sure which motor I will use, kit or I have this Ross Gibson one, I like the idea of a 811 cu inch motor.
I'm also not fully aware of all the rules and regulations of ANDRA, so I'm not sure if this would be Pro Stock or maybe Super Sedan and dial my own times, something like that.
Anyway, thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Re: Lets go Drag Racing...
Car looks mean just sitting there . Go with the hemi and go with the rear wheels , may just have to cut and shut the chassis to fit them but hey it will be unique !
Re: Lets go Drag Racing...
Thanks guys, yes Rob, I'll be there!
So these wheels hey, it's should be an easy fit, just a little trimming required. And the Hemi, I've never built a RG engine before, so we see how it goes.

Re: Lets go Drag Racing...
I know what you mean about the rear tyres, I have set as well, I would use the Pegasus rim with the kit tyre, that way you will have no chassis issues.
Either engine would be wrong for ANDRA Pro Stock as they only run small blocks all be it 400 cubes, where as in the States they run big block, not sure of cube. I think you could get away with the Gibson engine in Super Stock, someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Lets go Drag Racing...
Bugga the rules, go the HEMI!!, it will fit into a catagory somewhere, wheels look awsome, but the tyres do look a tad to big, have a mate with these wheels on a blown chrysler hard top, sweet wheels mate,, looking forward to this build as your mock-up looks tuff as!!

Re: Lets go Drag Racing...
Well I have been looking at different websites and I think I have come up with the category that I can fit this one into - Top Sportsman TS/A. 'A' for unsupercharged, 'AA' for supercharged.
The car has to go faster than 8.5 seconds, (which I hope it will) and any engine combination can be used. It uses a dial your own handicap system.
If anyone has any other opinions, please let me know.

This is going to look awesome. Next time you feel like hurling a model across the room ( and we all do sometimes ) make sure one of your mates is there to catch it.

Re: Lets go Drag Racing...
It would be a Super Sedan in Oz , An IHRA Pro stocker in the US or put the bottle on it it could be a Outlaw Pro Mod car 1/8 Mile runner. Looking forward to see this build Kane, would like to build some Pro stockers one day. Let me know if you want some pictures

Re: Lets go Drag Racing...
Quick update, not much to show because work has been busy lately.
It feels like all I have been doing is cleaning up the roll cage, but anyway, I have got it built, looks quite good and fits at least. I can see why a lot of people end up building their own cage, think it would have been easier and probably more accurate. I had to add small pins to try and make it stronger and easier to build too, otherwise I would have broken it a lot from handling.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Lets go Drag Racing...
Well finally a bit of an update, I have been slowly plugging away at this when I'm not working.
And this is where I'm at:
Managed to spray the roll cage and chassis. The roll cage I sprayed with Alclad steel and the chassis is Alclad dark aluminium. I sprayed the inside of the wheel wells black to hide all the rubber from burnouts.
I carbon fibered the transmission tunnel, and wheels tubs and back parcel shelf.
As always, thanks for looking, more to come soon hopefully.
