2005 Ford GT Empty 2005 Ford GT

Post by dufasdave Wed 02 May 2012, 12:18 pm

With the VW finished I have now set myself a small challenge of selecting an unbuilt kit and try have it done by Friday night for the Mackay comp on Saturday. Just a quick out of box build, nothing fancy. I have chosen the 2005 Ford GT, not much of a kit but will require a bit of detail painting for it too look any good. I have swapped the wheels out of it and replaced them with a set from a Tamiya racing car (kit escapes me right now, couldn't be bothered to go check whilst writing this).

Lets see how I go, body already sanded ready for paint as soon as I have some lunch. Wife's away until next Tuesday, boy is at school, not at work until Sunday and no big chores that need doing around the house, so I have a pretty good chance of getting this done. I may not get alot of photos whilst building but see how we go.

I got shit all done yesterday as my sister came up from the Sunshine Coast for a flying visit. Literally flying visit, flew in at lunch time fly out at 8pm. Spent time with her as it was her first time up here. Have managed to get this far with it though today. Decals for the stripes were shit! Masked and painted these but did manage to use the decals for the sides. Paint is Tamiya Mica red, black stripes. Wheels are from a Tamiya Nasbrig NSX. Interior done, engine bay nearly done and there are still day light hours today to get this finished. It is a very basic kit with alot of the parts snapping together like a snap tite kit. Which isn't necessarily bad as that limits the amount of glue used that could wreck the sometimes still wet paint. Engine/engine bay very plain but you see bugger all of it anyway.

Looks like a fun kit still even for a basic one.

I love the colour, really suits the body.
