L'IL COFFIN ROD rebuild
Found this one in the junk box, was done 20+ years ago, before spray cans were invented i think, It was painted with a very big brush, so i dipped it in the caustic soda mix for a few days.

cleaned up ok, alot of bits missing though, only really have the body and interior, half a chassis, will have to find some thing for the motor, drive line, wheels etc,
even thinking about filling in the rear of the side windows and turning it into a severely chopped VAN!, for something different.

Re: L'IL COFFIN ROD rebuild
Looks like a great rod originally. Hmmm the van idea has potential or stretch it even more for a hearse or a stretch limo .....or just an experiment in ' Just how long and how low can you go ' hehehe !
Will be awesome no matter what under your skilled hands !!!

Re: L'IL COFFIN ROD rebuild
Just checked my Coffin kit chassis & it seems a bit of a one off - maybe a T frame could work. Realy like the idea of the van maybe with a different nose, something that matches the body line a bit better, looking forward to this one

Re: L'IL COFFIN ROD rebuild
At one stage the Li'l Coffin was converted into a van (of sorts ) by Gene Winfield. It was called the Monkey Ward Express and was as ugly as a hatful of monkeys arseholes!! The bodylines were terrible! Then it was converted yet again into a roadster type with a carson top. One day they were taking it off a trailer when it caught fire and was practically destroyed with Winfield in it. A fuel line had ruptured and when he started it the interior burst into flames. Most of the lead melted out and the interior was gutted....

Re: L'IL COFFIN ROD rebuild
Interesting story, have looked up his van version, YES, it is as ugly as a hat full, hopefully i can make it into a better van the he did , otherwise mine might take a match too.

Re: L'IL COFFIN ROD rebuild
Mate, I'm sure you'll do a much better job than he did! It'd look great as a van. It'd have to keep its bodylines though. The hearse idea's a good one too...

Re: L'IL COFFIN ROD rebuild
I think i've managed to convert this baby into a van, albeit a very small van. Thought about the stretch idea but i like the shape of it too much to do that i think, maybe with the other reject one i have. Have also molded the centre of the room in place, it was a separate piece, but the body had no strength like it was.
Got alot more work to do with this but here is the basic shape.
now, back to the work bench,
