Western Star aussie truck
My first go at a truck model! Italeri western star aussie truck, great kit but not happy with bonnet fit, not sure if its my fault or not though. Built out of box with revell kenworth decals, modified bull bar, ally tubes on air filter housings, super single tyres on front and reflectors made from little tiny bare metal foil rectangles cut out and painted clear orange that pissed me right off!!! I leart that tamiya clear is too hot for enamel paint and made sleeper cab paint wrinkle. . Also put on brake booster, air bag and some air tank lines that only lead to the chassis and dissapear into the shadows, so not that accurate.
Built the truck and thought it would look even better with a trailer. Grabbed a revell heavy duty trailer, cut about 25 off the front near fifth wheel off and widened the bed and axles by about 20mm so that it can fit another truck on the back later on. Put my race car on the back for the photo but was told it's probably a bit of overkill to tow an xb! Fair bit of time spent on this one, no show pony but still happy with it. Hope you like it!

I think it might be because Tamiya is an acrylic paint? Enamel goes over acrylic fine but acrylic wrinkles and fries over enamel.
Nice looking rig though.
Cheers Rob

Great lookin unit mate , it would look neat if it had a stonegaurd on the cab for when you go out west .
re:Western Star aussie truck
Thanks for the comments fellas, much appreciated! Thanks for the headsup too Checkmate, used a tin of ts-13 clear, stuffed the sleeper but managed to get the cab and bonnet coated. safe to say i'll write to santa and tell him where he can put any tamiya paint he's bringing for me for christmas!!! And to Scummy, I'm guessing you ment the sunvisor/stoneguard over windscreen; and yes, I have copped a little flack for leaving the one in the kit off, might dig it out and give it a coat of humbrol and whack it on!!!

Re: Western Star aussie truck
The stonegaurd is the wire thing on the bottom of the windscreen , and yer a sunvisor would be good to keep the sun from beeming down on the dash . I do like the lightening strike .

She's a beauty. And as for those giving you flack, it's your model, you build em the way you see fit & if others don't like it, to bad. Opinions are like bellybuttons, everyone has one, just my opinion.
