‘Rolling Bones’ style chopped deuce coupe
Finished this up yesterday and thought I'd share with you guys.
This is based on the Revell kit. I had an old build that I decided to strip down and recycle and Paul generously donated a new body to chop. The top has been chopped ‘Bonneville-style’ with a leaned back A-pillar and the chassis has had the rails pinched and bobbed at the front and the gas tank bobbed at the rear and lifted to meet the body ala the ‘Rolling Bones’ style of builds. Front axle and wheels are from a Revell ‘48 Ford with split bones from an old Monogram Little Deuce. I drilled the axle, bones and rear spreader bar. Rear axle is a resin quick change centre mounted on ladder bars and coil overs. Engine is a small block from the Revell ’57 Chevy kit. I wanted a 50s hot rod look hence the painted black steelies and ’40 Ford caps and bare metal style paint.
More pics and a bit of a build thread here if you’re on facebook:

Cool. It's so clean and simple it looks like you've done nothing except left some bits off.
Good one.

It's a 50:50 mix of Tamiya flat aluminium and semi gloss black. It gives a nice steel colour and metallic texture. I really like it and have wanted to paint a car that colour for ages. Just needed the right project.
Thanks for all the nice words. Much appreciated!
