Revell '77 Chevy Van SWB
Here's some pics of something I started yesterday, got all inspired and dragged out another van. Quick sand, quick primer and chuck some paint on. Shogun grey, Lavender roof, pearl over the top. Still got murals and stripes to go and polish.
Lowered front and rear and a set of MRC Cragar SS rims and M/T tyres.
Chassis etc all satin black and basic as she'd be a driver.
Here's what partly inspired it:
Here's the body first coats.
And a few more sitting on the chassis

Well, well, well, Checkmate building a van, I never.
But seriously, that looks killer, I may have to get me one of these revell vans. Is it a decent kit Rob?

I've built the AMT Vantasy van and now started this one, in all honesty I prefer this by a long way.
They're both old moulds rehashed so they're a long way from perfect and both need cleaning up but this required less.
Neither the AMT or Revell vans will build easily into show quality models so as shelf models the Revell ones better, lower parts count, better fit and simply one piece front suspension.
The Vantasy does have some sweet as decals though.
As a comparison.
AMT Vantasy:
Long wheel base. 1/25
Cool decals and lots of them.(2 full sheets)
Mould lines a plenty.
Some fit issues.
Revell 77 Chev:
Short wheel base 1/24
Reasonable decals. (2 options)
Mould lines but less than Vantasy
Lower parts count and better fit.
If you can only buy one, get the Revell one, if you can get both there's enough decals in the Vantasy to decorate them both.
Cheers Rob

I second that.
The Revell has a much batter grille and while it may have less parts they are more detailed with better engraving and are less toy like.
If you want to get an AMT van to build and don't need all the decals then get the oldest release you can find as the moulds will have been less worn and the quality will be better.

Re: Revell '77 Chevy Van SWB
Gave it a light sand and started to add a bit more colour to it.
Got more to go but getting there slowly.
