41 WILLY'S
Well, FINALLY got this "quick build" finished, was supposed to be a relatively easy build , just make it TUFF. Unfortunately, the 1:1 project kept taking over and this kept getting put on the back-burner.
Fattened up the engine a bit, all leads, battery cables and fuel lines etc were run , got it sitting as low as i could , opened up and hinged the boot and put the battery and fuel cell in there. Kept it simple with black/red paint and minimal chrome. ( the orange is from the sun setting when i took the pics 15 mins ago, the same time i finished it.)

Re: 41 WILLY'S
Nicely finished quickie and I hear ya on the 1/1 car, mine is fighting me so hard if it was a plastic kit I'd have jumped on it by now!
I have more than a few models on hold until the biggie decides to play ball.
Here's a hint for photographing shiny black cars, or any others for that matter.
Strong direct light is the camera's worst enemy.
So, set up your display such that there's as much light as you can get hitting the car, then take a white sheet, or those nice semi transparent 'scrim' curtains and hang it between the light source and the car you are photographing. If it casts a shadow make sure that when you shoot the car, every part of your image is in the shadow. If you can control your camera manually, place it on a tripod and close the iris (aperture) as small as it will go and then set the shutter to stay open as long as required for perfect exposure (slow). I usually bracket three shots when doing this (because digital is my friend it doesn't waste half as much film as I used to burn in the old days), that is, take one at whatever setting the camera says is correct, then take another one stop underexposed and another one stop over exposed. Among the three should be the perfect photograph, showing all the details of the model with no ugly reflections.

Oooo shiney nice work on the paint mate, and the sunset orange is a cool touch ....although temporary LOL
The red interior goes so well with the black too.

Re: 41 WILLY'S
Super nice! The fat fendered Willys is a classic which brings out all that's best in contemporary rod building, especially when they're slammed ('though the current revival in the gasser look sets these off to advantage, too - maybe that's why it's such a classic...). So many nice details on this one. I especially dig the opened up hood sides. Brilliant touch! This project may have been a "quickie" but it's a memorable result none the less. Bravo!
This is the second black contemporary styled '41 I've seen in the past 2 weeks. (I seem to recall yours having been painted red in the build thread - I must admit I prefer the black...) Fascinating how, even 'though they are both shiny, slick, smooth and slammed, they couldn't be more different. Love the modern competition look of this one (the other one had oversized wheels, rubber band tires and a show car vibe). Between all the slick and/or brutal slammed Willys in your original build thread and now this completion, I have started my own, 'though quite different, lowered '41. Thanx for the inspiration!
PS. Carps' photo advice is on the money. I have never understood the fascination in model car photography for undiffused natural light - it's so cruel! The only thing I would add is, as long as you're using a tripod also use a remote shutter timer (usually built in to most modern digital cameras) to totally eliminate any possibility of camera shake. Then you can stop your aperture down to the absolute minimum for maximum depth of field and, as an added bonus, free yourself of any worries of how diffuse your lighting is - although, the more (diffuse) light the better, always!

Re: 41 WILLY'S
Thanks for the compliments guys, and Carps/Bernard, appreciate the tips on photography too, but i only have a point and shoot basic camera with a small amount of settings, and no tripod, besides, i'm a modeler, not a photographer, already got enough hobbies. .
