VW Golf/Rabbit MkI

I've been building quite a few VW's over the last years so I thought I'd try a watercooled one as well. I had this old AMT Rabbit MkI laying around:



Here's how I plan to build it:



Rear suspension has been lowered:



And so has the front suspension ( I simply flipped the front beams upside-down ) :

I sanded the hood from the inside to open up the louvers:



Interior will have the GTi-chairs that came in the box and a "billet" steering-wheel from my spareparts.




How about this for stance?



Engine will have a Turbo:



A 100% scratchbuilt exhaustsystem :

Now that's going to be cool down in the weeds

Made some progress on the interior today. Here's a mockup:



....and here's a closeup on the speakers, the red'n blue stripes simulates neaonlightbars that I will make from strechted sprue :

Cool build mate, and will be pretty tough when done, i have a whole new respect for these golf's after seeing a drag between a twin turbo Porsche and a twin turbo Supra get upstaged by one of these just blowing them both away on you tubes.

Cool build, I really like how you opened up the hood louvers, I never thought to try that.

Thanks, yeah, the hood louvers will look much better when opened! This week I've been at work and I won't have any time to work on this model before tuesday, when I get back home again. Here's how the interior looks right now with the "neonlights" installed :




I've also made a new hose and handle for the fire extinguisher:

Not that much left to do on this one....Interior is finished and I put on the bodyprimer today along with some red paint to the Wheels:





Then i shot a thin layer of clearcote and added some decals on the doors and the rear hatch ( The blue logo says "Skallerackers" , it's a Scandinavian carmodel-forum).

Nice work on the interior great detail.

I've put the decal on the roof :



Unfortunately the decal on the hood was destroyed so I'll have to make a new one which also will be a bit modified:

Got some more work done last week:

Today I've started putting together the Wheels but managed to make damage to one of the front rims. I fixed it and repainted it and will komplete that Wheel tomorrow.

First layer with red paint on the edge of the black GTI-grille:

Body got clearcoated this morning, with matte finish. However, the hood need some more of that treatment.....

Looks like somehting the Dudesons would drive......awesome Darryl
