Re: Diamond Reo
I will be watching this build. Always liked the look these trucks.
I have one of these in the stash to build one day, most likely as a logging truck.
Good luck with the build & can't wait to see the build progress.

Re: Diamond Reo
progress has been slow seems like lotsa work but not much to show! , Kerry from KP conversions sold me a RHD dash, this was the mian reason i wasnt going to change to a RHD but with the resin dash its a piece of cake, so i have converted the steering gear to RHD, shortend one of the fuel tanks to make it into a hydralic tank for the tipper hoist, have made a cage for the spare tyre and a locker/steps to replace the missing fuel tank.

Re: Diamond Reo
bit of a heads up for anyone else building this kit, i attached the bonnet to the chassis today and couldnt believe how much trouble i had! (this could be cos i done something wrong earlier and still dont realise it ! ) the first problem to arise was the fit, because i have converted it to RHD the bonnet no longer fits over the steering box, this was a pretty easy fix simply cut away some of the bonnet.
once this was done it became obvious that there were other fit issues, the rear ends of the mudgaurds do not clear the battery boxes, seems to be a poor design but it may be an error on my part, once again easily solved by removeing some of the gaurds to make it all fit.
the biggest problem was then attaching the bonnet as per the instructions and parts provided, i found that there was no way i could hold the bonnet in the correct position while attaching the last hinge/bracket, after cementing one in place and allowing to dry i attempted to fit the other with everything in place, there was just no way this was going to work, struggled with it for some time before walking away from it, after having a rethink i came up with this solution, attach one hinge/braket and allow to dry, remove the protruding pin from the other and drill out the hinge where the pin was, then cement this hinge to the inside of the bonnet (test fit for alignment of hinges) when both hinges are set fit the bonnet in place with the unaltered hinge sitting in its hole in the chassis rail, this should leave the other hinge against the other chassis rail but no means of attaching it, then take a small piece of round plastruct and insert it into the hole drilled in hinge,
gently push plastruct pin into place and glue at one end
hope this helps someone out as i wasted a lot of time and became extremely frustrated trying to figure this one out, almost glued bonnet shut!

Re: Diamond Reo
I have one of these in the cupboard also so thanks for all the prep work. The road boss kit I'm doing has similar fit issues in these areas too which is why there are no recent posts. I'm using the Auslowe transkit and it comes with choices- things can either be level and square at one end and not match at the other end ie bonnet to cab or get the bonnet and cab flush but it then either doesn't sit on the cab mounts or the bonnet mounts, To bring it forward so the bonnet fits means cutting out most of the replacement firewall which should have been made to fit? Maybe it's the re released kit that's the problem with the moulds worn out - not sure but it is a challenge!
