Revell Audi R8 V10 (Spyder and Coupe)
I had started this project on a different forum but since then have found AAMB and I'd like to keep things in Aus so I'll give a brief update as to where I'm at and will continue the build progress here.
The goal is to build up the Spyder and Coupe Audi R8 V10 kits. Currently Revell only make the V10 for the Spyder (the coupe version comes with a V8 engine and different front/rear blades). I want to convert the coupe to the V10 version as well so I'll be using two Spyders and one Coupe. I'm still tossing around ideas for colours at the moment but for the coupe have narrowed it down to either black n white or dark blue. The Spyder will be either satin or gloss black.
First thing I wanted to do was remove the chrome plating from the wheels as they are a little too bright.
After a few minutes in regular bleach, the chrome came right off.
I gave the rims a few light coats of Alclad "Airframe Aluminium" and "Chrome" expecting the end result to be a regular slightly polished aluminium look. The Alclad worked well... a little TOO well. They look like the chrome was never removed lol. I'll hit them again later with regular Aluminium or I may try and tone them down with a light mist of semi-gloss clear.
The Audi rims fit perfectly inside these stepped 20" aluminium rims from Pegasus. Toying with the idea of using them.
I want to use the front and rear 'fins' and lower side body panels from the Spyder on the coupe. I removed the side panels from both the coupe and the spare Spyder body then swaped them over. I used a little sheet styrene along the inside walls of the coupe to give the added side panels some support strength.
Going to use the rear end from the Spyder on the coupe as well because I like the oval shaped exhaust.
Playing around with ideas for the rear end of the Spyder.
More soon

Re: Revell Audi R8 V10 (Spyder and Coupe)
Been a little busy the last couple of weeks but I'm hoping to get a fair bit done over the next few days.
I also caved and decided to add another kit to my "two at a time" build limit so now I have 3 going at the same time lol. The third is just another R8 coupe. During research I really liked the look of dark blue with silver side-blades but I'm committed to white with CF side-blades. Torn between the two, I decided to build both however the second coupe will have it's own build log which I'll post up after completion.
The Spyder will be a gloss coal colour with polished aluminium rims, Similar to this...
I primed both bodies. The lighting is a little bright but It's actually Tamiya grey primer.
After a couple of hours in the dehydrator and they'll be ready for some light sanding and a coat of fine white primer then the fun part begins
Planning on getting the interiors and engines done in the next couple of days. The engines themselves can barely be seen once installed but the engine bay of the couple could use a little extra detail.

Cheers Shunter. There's been a few delays the last couple of weeks (visitors, rellies, etc) . I'm hoping to get some done this week
