66' Low CAMINO
Started this 66 El Camino, decided to slam it on the ground.
Unfortunately, it needs lots of work to get it there.
had to cut out the tray and re-position it a tad higher.
Did the same to the front aswell.
And got the engine done, .
It is actually purple like the plug leads, don't know why it shows up as blue??????? (maybe the flouro lights??)

Re: 66' Low CAMINO
Cool idea on lower it down, will you also have to make changes to the seat tub, with the engine looking blue in the photos and not purple, you find that the purple has a cool tint of blue in it and the camera picks it up, I painted a model with Tamiya color purple X-16, every photo it comes out dark blue. Some colour have warm tints and some have cool tints, go to a art shop and look at the tubes of paint and pastel range you see all the different, from memory if you look at a purple you see six warmer shades and six cool shades. Anyway back to the ute great job on it so far will be watching it

Re: 66' Low CAMINO
Thanks guys, Allan, yes I have done a bit on the interior mate, will have some pics tonight when I get home and TJ, I put this color over it last night which turned out pretty sweet, but still looks blue.
I am going to lay down the decals tonight and then will put a purple clear over them to tone down the yellow in the flames I think.

I would put a cover on the bed so you don't see how shallow it is.

Re: 66' Low CAMINO
Allan. i might look into that idea mate, but had my own issues today,
i layed down the flame decals last night, all good, then when i had a look this morning, YUK!! ( i still hate decals).
There was all that white gunk under the decals, well, i though i could maybe cover that with some tinted clear,
WRONG!! Then they crinkled up like an 80 year old.
Sand the buggers off and rethink.
So, this is where i ended up about 4 pm today.

Re: 66' Low CAMINO
"Cheezus Car Iced'!... where do you guys get the ideas and the
talents to do such awesome paint work???. I still haven't got past
the single "rattlecan" colour for my builds!... I know airbrushing
is the way to go, but even then I wouldn't know where to start.
You guys definitely have a great talent for building & painting
custom models!.
Reckon by the time I'm building & painting
to this standard, I'll be 90!.
Anyway, Great work!.

Digging the custom paint, I think it was a ggod thing the first paint job stuffed up.
Is that cling wraped effect on the blue?

Re: 66' Low CAMINO
that's sweet mate.........
Another funky looking paint job, you've pretty much nailed it again, the colours work well together and the scheme/style is a work of art.
I'm on the fence about the rear cover, I still think it looks fine with a shallow tray, but I don't think a cover would look bad either

Mate this is unreal! From the jaws of disaster comes this beauty. If I had a fraction of your ability I'd never use decals again. Have you done tutorials on this stuff for the rest of wannabes?

Thank you very much guys,Deaf as wrote:Mate this is unreal! From the jaws of disaster comes this beauty. If I had a fraction of your ability I'd never use decals again. Have you done tutorials on this stuff for the rest of wannabes?
Deaf as, i would need a tutorial on how to do tutorials mate, not really a computerized person, if i had to get a web thingy to do it , or even a video camera, it would eat into modeling money, so i can't see it happening mate, i have done a couple of step by steps on masking up this sort of stuff in a few of my build-ups in the workshop, thats about as close as it will get.
More than happy to help out if you have any questions though.
