Re: IMSA Pontiac.
So i'm guessing the Sunbird was the Poncho version of the Chevy Monza and Buick Skyhawk?
Love the shape of these and you did a cracking job.

Re: IMSA Pontiac.
WOW! The box art would put most people off, it looks like a crap model.
However, your build makes it looks like one of the best model kits in the world, well done.
Fred, you are correct and for the follow up versions to these US icons, GM used the same base car that we knew in Australia as Camira.

Re: IMSA Pontiac.
Silverfox... never been a great fan of these styled racecars, sorry, (even had to "Google" what IMSA meant & what the cars look like). but seeing how these racecars are presented and the categories they run, your build is really outstanding. A real nice looking piece as usual.

IMSA Pontiac
Guys, you know what’s funny? Revell also did am IMSA style Monza. It had the same molded in generic slot tail lights as this Sunbird. The Sunbird and Monza kits shared the same chassis and generic V8 engine (as SilverFox stated “the crappy parts”) with the Revell Monroe Handler Mustang II. Now here is the funny part...I get a manufacturer using the same parts in several kits for economic reasons. But Revell burnt me twice with this Pontiac kit. See I believe they meant to include 2 front clips, one for the Monza and one for the Sunbird. In both of mine however they only included the Chevy Monza clips! So SilverFox I am glad you got the correct part in your kit. I am taking your tip and replacing the junk parts in my kits with NASCAR pieces too. You did a great build here! Back to my dilemma real quick. I had several Rick Dobbertin J2000 bodies left after stealing chassis pieces for other builds. So....I sawed the front grille area off one of them to graft to the Sunbird. I need to widen it a bit and it is not a perfect replica of the Sunbird piece but it’s close. As for the other one in my stash I will use the Monza piece that came with it. One more odd thing is one of my kits the glass is clear and the other one it is heavily tinted!
