Should i finish it?? Empty Should i finish it??

Post by TuffXR Sat 29 Nov 2008, 3:42 pm

I was cleaning out the garage today getting all the Chrissy decors out, as you do this time of year and came across this that i started years ago. It is the old Matchbox issue of the 30 coupe so that for one will tell you how long i have had it.

Now my question is do i continue along the line of the 40/50 style ( which apples to me more ) or should i pull it apart and give it a modern update.

Please for give the blurry image

I reckon it looks cool the way it is John. Why not just continue along those same lines - we don't see many five-window coupes any more. Maybe update it with a modern paint finish? Hey wasn't this originally an AMT kit?

The '30 coupe was originally a Monogram kit, which has me curious how it got to be Matchbox as they were linked at one stage to AMT.

John, it appears to be on RM Deuce chassis (with grille and firewall) is the engine a resin or the '50 Pick-up version?

Like Tezza sez, it looks kool how it is, so I'd agree, continue on with the same approach, my good man.

Your right terry it was Monogram then Matchbox.

Alright then I will continue on the way it is. And your right Carps on all accounts except for the engine. It is one of Ken Hamilton's resin versions i got when I had detail in Scale.

Looks cool to me. Traditional good looks will always be in style whereas trends will come and go. Being as I have never even seen this kit, if you don't want to finish it I'll gladly take it off your hands.

I dragged out all my old Rod and Custom mags yesterday and have decided that I will finish it in the style that i started.

Just a bit more of a run down of it.

The top is chopped a scale 4" and the rear roll pan if from the old blue beetle 28 roadster pick up kit. The grill shell is another Kenn Hamilton resin piece, and the chassis is from the Monogram 32 Coupe/ Roadster kit.

The wheels and tyres are i think from memory an old Johan kit.

As for paint i think it may turn out to be some sort of primer deal.

Revell '32 5 window is alleged to be out next year. Same chassis as the rest but with an early hemi.

you better finish it ... !

i'm seeing it as a mildly weathered but period looker ..
a ' once was shiney ' car with a little character coming through ..
then again ... could be a suede or a shade of primer ..
be it a darkish blue or maybe oxide ... . .. ...

how about an old showcar look that's just been dug out of the shed .. barn find cool ?

but it ain't no rat ! Rolling Eyes
learn the term !

I was waiting for some one to pick that one up. And it had to be you.

I like the barn find idea. Better talk to some one at work about some weathering i think.
