T for Two Empty T for Two

Post by Carps Thu 18 Dec 2008, 6:30 pm

With all this late model stuff recently, I'm badly in need of a Hot Rod fix.

Soooo, I figure a quick build of an old kit that's been takin up space for too many years.

T for Two Tfor2

Front wheels are AMT 40 Ford with Finned Buick drums from The Parts Box.com, tyres are from Pegasus Hobbies.
I figure I'll use the kit engine and add a little more detail, plus a chromed styrene sheet firewall.

T for Two TFr

Rear end is Parts Box quickchange adapted to kit suspension and axle ends.
Wheels & tyres, RM '40 Ford, with Parts Box '48 brake backs.

T for Two TRr

I kinda like it in blue but this is too dark, it needs to be a sixtes kind of pastel pearl colour, so I've mixed up a batch of what I think will work well.

Wheels and undercarriage detail will be red as will be interior. Which is pretty sparse, so I may have to come up with something there.

Nope, got me a Chopped one too (original AMT kit), so there'll be a low boy for comparison in the future.
Also got me one of Paul's resin bodies so may use that with scratch built chassis and a really serious powertrain.Meanwhile I got a few more minutes this arvo and we're looking good.  Only the glass and interior left to do.Hmmm, that sounds familliar.

T-riffic.
Is that an engine turned firewall?
How'd you do that Carps?
I might have gone with a taller induction set up to balance the height difference between the roof and the rad. But that's a matter of personal choice and this looks pretty good.

T-mendous even.

sorry. Very Happy

I was going to use BMF then I found an old 'Spectrachrome' sheet, so I cut the firewall from that.
I might have gone with a taller induction set up to balance the height difference between the roof and the rad.

The engine in scale appears to be a V8 60 which was commonly used in this type of T back in the early sixties, as they were a neat fit in the early T engine bay.  So the tri carb set up is more in scale and in line with what was available for such an engine back then.  If you look thru your old Rod n Custome or Hot Rod mags from the late fifties and early sixties you'll see one or two Ts of this style. The kit is prettty basic but it comes up OK with a little work, although I reckon I have less than a couple of hours real time, in it.
