Green Hornet 'T'
Monogram reissue
won't be green tho'...
Kit chrome has parting lines & seams every where, so I stripped the lot with Mr Muscle
& either painted semi gloss black or rattle can chrome
Have omitted roof, windscreen, fenders, rear bumper, headlights, taillights
for drag racing only
Making a mailbox type scoop - out of bread bag closures -
(great free 'shim stock' ? ... works with styrene glue)

If you have a Spotlight or Lincraft etc nearby, check out the craft section as they sell very fine wire on a roll that is perfect for making springs etc. Just find something round in the Diameter you need and wind the wire around it then make your desired spring, HTH

Re: Green Hornet 'T'
Thanks Paul
Don't have any craft stores, living in a one pub town
I get most things over the 'net
Have read somewhere, fella' uses the filament from light bulbs
Just an idea - there are small stainless springs used by fisherman
as knot protectors - might see if they are small enough

Re: Green Hornet 'T'
I use fine fuse wire for making small springs for my models. It works well for 1:24 scale. Like Paul says you wrap it tightly around a small diameter rod or similar and then slide it off and shape the ends to suit the positions.

Went & got some Evergreen & was given some tiny HO scale springs
Knocked up a fuel block & magneto

Re: Green Hornet 'T'
Looking good dude, gotta love those Hex assemblies.
this will be a treat all finished.

Re: Green Hornet 'T'
Thanks bloke
aren't dudes from Texas ?
Yeah those hex fittings are nice, but expensive
I'd buy them in bulk if they were reasonably priced
Latest mod, cut grille centre out
Pinched this pic from Gasoline Alley
how kit would look 'out of the box'

Re: Green Hornet 'T'
Maybe it would look better with the wheel attached?
I like the white better than the green though. JMO.

the good one was quite difficult to remove ?
Painted wheel covers, fuel tank & steering wheel 'Chardonay' DupliColor
I've pulled up on detail plans a bit, keen to get this one finished
before I start anymore projects

Re: Green Hornet 'T'
Hey Nos, or should we just call you Nut for short, that's looking really good.
The kit was originally based of a real car, which is how it came to be named and coloured green.
It's one of those kits that's a bit of fun to build and takes some of us back to our youth.
As you've shown very well, it's also one of those old kits that responds really well to a little detailing and a few subtle changes.
Well done, I love it.

Re: Green Hornet 'T'
IIRC Revellogram just copied the 1:1 without talking to the owner which is why it changed name from Grasshopper to Green Hornet.
