'34 Ford 5W coupe
AMT kit built from the box with a wheel change and lowering job. This kit has some great parts in it, but I wouldn't recommend building it unless you enjoy final assembly aggro.
I still need to re-paint the bonnet and sides due to fit problems that have been rectified. But being as there's nothing left in the box to glue on, I'm calling this one done. Will add some more pics once I've got the bonnet painted and installed.

Re: '34 Ford 5W coupe
Thanks guys - appreciate all the kind words. Truth is, I was kind of hating this model by the end of last week, so it's nice to hear such positive comments - makes it all worthwhile!
And I just want to say how frigging awesome it is to get a dozen or so replies on a topic in less than a week. This place is going great guns and I'm loving the great crew of people we have here now!

Re: '34 Ford 5W coupe
Thanks Bones - colour is 'Bermuda blue'. It's White Knights 'Squirts' rattle can enamel. I buy it from Bunnings. Works real good all year round - just heat the can in some warm water before use and it sprays on silky smooth and shiny!

Re: '34 Ford 5W coupe
It's an old AMT tool what do you ecxpect?Bryce wrote:This kit has some great parts in it, but I wouldn't recommend building it unless you enjoy final assembly aggro.
Despite that it urned out looking a treat as I'd expect from you anyhow.
There's three 'recent' versions of this kit, the 'stocker', the 'Hot Rod' and the 'Two In One' which has the same red hot rod box art as the hot rod kit but with all the stocker parts and all the hot rod parts. So if you see them on salle check to make sure you get the 2 in one version. The Hot Rod front independent suspension sux, but the 'Vette rear is quite good as is the SBC engine. The body is shaped wrong and needs heaps of work to be built as an accurate rendition of a highboy, but it works OK with the fenders, aside from the fit issues and the way some of it goes together just makes no sense.
But hey Bryce, if you want an upside, it's a whole bunch better than the older AMT '34 3 window coupe kit, which is even more out of proportion that the Monogram 3 window with the Lill Juhn T chassis under it. So again congrats for a job well done on a difficult kit but great subject.
Oh yeah, the colour is almost perfect for that car.

Re: '34 Ford 5W coupe
And one last thing, the 1/1 scale cars don't go together any easier or the parts fit any neater than they do on the kit, so maybe AMT are more true to life than we give them credit for.
