Re: 41 Chevy COE pickup
Steve I will be casting them as well because I want to build a few versions the whole style of cab leaves it open to so many build possibility I cant believe that the big model company have not made them in the past and the aftermarket ones from the states are so over priced and I really enjoy the building of them I plan on doing a few options like the floor plain to suit a 6 or 8 with bed left or right hand drive still working out a price but am hoping about the same as a new plastic kit for the members of this forum

Re: 41 Chevy COE pickup
Thanks everyone I did not take it with me to work am back now. It's almost ready I am having some fun with a couple of panels but should be ready to cast on Sunday will post some pictures tomorrow.
I have many builds that I have done over the years that I have not been happy with and have be relegated to the parts box mostly because I was doing things above my skill level at that time, which is how I like to learn. last week I pulled one out that I started about 7 years ago that I'm about to finish not as I intended to but am happy with how it is going to turn out, am posting pictures tonight. The point that I'm trying to make is start small if you fail keep trying ask questions, with time and practice you can do whatever you dream off as so many more talented builder than me that post here prove all the time. So if you like some thing just have a go you might be surprised at what you can do..

My sentiments exactly Kynan. I could not agree more with this statement. I have boxes and boxes of junk and unfinished projects that were started and stalled years ago due to not being able to achieve the result I wanted at the time. But without all the previous failures, experimentation and aborted attempts I would not have the reportoire of skills at my disposal today. Point being - you gotta keep trying new things, or else you won't develop your abilities.
My next hurdle is weathering - for years I have wanted to do a rusty beater project but I am still too scared to try it because I know it will take at least half a dozen crap results to get a good one!

Re: 41 Chevy COE pickup
Got plenty in my stash as well, don't mean to highjack your thread Kynan but if it wasn't for this forum I would never have tried all the wiring I have done on my 58 SD. My focus has always been nice paint, so got a few failed paint jobs lying around but I will dig them out one day but these guys have shown me how much further you can go without much more effort, detail wise and I'm keen to try more new things.
Back to the original subject, love the C.O. been looking for one of these to build for a long time, how cool would a show car and hauler painted the same look, I know that is high on my lisy of projects, so put me down for one mate.

Re: 41 Chevy COE pickup
If it was not for places like here and clubs if you have one in your area and to a point magazines seeing other peoples builds and talking to them are I think the best way to be inspired to try something new (I find in mags you see too many polished models and think that it can have an advertised effect of I cant do that) so I find that places like here a real benefit they make me try new things and styles. I like any modeler has week points I can lay a nice coat of paint but I have never been happy with any of my two tones or paint effects that is my weakest point and i am constantly amazed at the quality of the paint work that so many people here do and it is driving me to practice were I enjoy the scratch building/ customizing side. in my dark time I still build a little bit of late model military soft skin vehicles so the weathering side can be carried across I will do a full on better build soon for you Bryce

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
Get out. Get out!!
Begone foul...ummmmm...thingo!
Sorry.
I must admit i'm still occasionally tempted by military stuff. It's only the combined threats of physical violence (from Mrs z) and psychologicial violence (from Bryce) that stop me. That and lack of space. I mean where do you store a built up 1/35 Huey Gunship? It's not like I can hang it from my bedroom ceiling any more...

Re: 41 Chevy COE pickup
Psychological violence...?
Each to their own I reckon. I think all those drab colours would do more psychological violence to you than I ever could Zenrat.
I do have a question though - what the hell is a "soft skin vehicle"?

OK cool - well feel free to post them up here too. They are cars and trucks after all. As long as they have rubber on the wheels I think we are all on the same page.

I will take some pictures of some for you. I only build military every now and then I don't show them because of the rivet counters that I have met over the years, That I fell do more damage than good when it come to our chosen hobbies

That a Ford? I can't read any badges of scripts but that looks like a '56 F100 grille.
