Looks great keep up the good work. sometimes if you are lucky a flash will show up the correct colour. Our eyes see more colours than cameras can pick up.

Re: '41 towing a '41
Hey thanks alot guys!! I really apperciate it.
What you all said makes perfect sense, metalflake paint jobs are simply ment to be seen in the sunlight. It's just as shame I can't get a decent photo of the flake.
I've given it a polish, still more to go and a waxing.
The Pickup is slowly gettin' there. I've raised the floor by 5mm and removed 5mm from the inner fenders, lowering the body over the frame. It still needs more sanding and fitting before it's ready for undercoat.
The first photo shows the stock height and the second is after the channeling.
Once again, thanks for your help.

Re: '41 towing a '41
This one has been on the back bench for far too long. Now that I've gotten my finished builds out of the way, I can show you what I've been working on.
The dually rear end.
To fit the wheels in the fenders, I made them wider by using styrene rods to build up the shape then putty to smooth it out. The rear fenders are 22 scale inches wide.
Made the flat bed about 12mm shorter.
Filled in the roll pan.
I have a few 440's which never seemed to never get used, should be a good engine for this.
Made the fifth wheel for the trailer. Used the lid from a 11# blade refill pack for the mounting disk.
Removed the floor and rebuilt my own.
The floor will sit flush with the body. Wood is Mahogany veneer.
You can't tow your drag car to the strip without having a toolbox.
But how would you get into it? If it opened from the top, you'd have to get up on the bed every time you wanted a tool. Had to have side access.
With fold down legs.
And an assortment of tools
Not sure what tools to use yet, this is just a mock up.

Wow mate, that is absolutely outstanding. The detail in the Pickup is amazing. Love what you have done with the tool box. Most people would have built it out of flat styrene but you've gone the whole 9 yards and built the frame too.

Re: '41 towing a '41
Opened this thread and thought, 'new to chopping up kits? That doesn't sound right' Didn't realise it was posted so long ago You make me feel a little better about my two and a half year long project. Or is it three...
Amazing work in this mate, love the bonnet, bed and toolbox. If it had of been me I would never taken some off the doors with the roof. Then I would have stared at it for months wondering why it looked wrong
Can't wait to see more of this.

Re: '41 towing a '41
Thanks guys!
The model I built before I started this one had mods added but this pickup is the first Model I chopped up. Wanted to go big, had a few idea's but didn't really know where to go after that. That's why it got shelved.
Not 2, it's been 3 years since I worked on this one. Actually some of this work was done around Xmas time and the rest was done over the last month. The Willys was actually finished last year.
https://ozautobuilders.forumotion.com/t5092-41-willys?highlight=willys
The original plans for this build have changed, the Willys isn't going to be a part of this build.
When I painted the Willys, I was messing around with different clears and over time the clear has cracked, leaving hair lines everywhere. I could've maybe rubbed the clear back but I didn't. Plus I built it box stock which doesn't really go with the rest of the build.
I also think the Willys would sit too high up on the trailer for the low pickup. Sorry guys But on a bright note, I'll now be towing this open rail from the amt double dragster kit.
Frame, metallic green over a silver base with a semi gloss clear.
Using this boring body bucket, I added rear flairs.
Under this green is yellow. There's a small amount of tape masking off some yellow, then hit it with green.
More chrome tape, masking off some green.
Then hit it all with black, decals from a tank kit.
I think this dragster will look better on the trailer. It'll sit lower and has more of a weekend racer look.
O.K, that's it now, I've got all my builds up to date and have nothing more to show....I swear!

G'day Dean, I got the tool set from Toyworld for about $12. It's 1:35 but most of the tools will work for 1:25.
